The competition is open to all English-language self-published books for which the authors have paid the full cost of publication, or the cost of printing has been paid for by a grant or as part of a prize. Just updated all content and added three new contests! Researching book award contests can be overwhelming. I started with a Google search and spent hours drilling down into contest rules and requirements. My first book, Sunbelievable, was published by my own publishing company and therefore qualified as a “self-published” versus a print-on-demand “self-published” book. The National Book Award for Young People's Literature carries a $10, cash prize and the award committee considers books of all genres written for children and young adults by U.S. writers with an emphasis on literary merit. The Young People's category was added to the National Book Awards .
